Rootstock is an independent food shop, coffee shop and event space in Bollington, bringing together organic produce, everyday groceries, good coffee and events centred around food, wellbeing and connection.
Rootstock is an independent food shop in Bollington created around the idea of making it easier to make more considered choices about the food we buy and eat. Alongside organic fruit and vegetables, the shop stocks everyday groceries, bread, dairy, pantry goods and fermented foods, with products selected with a focus on quality and thoughtful sourcing.
But Rootstock is not simply somewhere to pick up the weekly shop. Its Bollington space brings together a grocery shop downstairs with a café and event space upstairs, giving people somewhere to grab a coffee, discover new food and spend time with others. Rootstock also works with independent producers and suppliers, including businesses from Cheshire and Greater Manchester.
The result is a place that connects food shopping with the wider things around it: where food comes from, how it is produced, how we enjoy it and how it can bring people together.

Rootstock was created by Soph and Meg around a shared desire to offer an alternative to the big-name shops. Their approach puts people, soil, heritage, livelihoods and wellbeing at the centre of the choices they make as a business.
That thinking extends beyond what sits on the shelves. Rootstock's Bollington space is also used for events and activities around food, wellbeing and learning, including supper clubs, fermentation workshops and pickle clubs. It gives the business a way to bring people together locally while sharing some of the things they care about.
